finally, some interactivity!

by Spaghetti_H

This update sees the introduction of features that make iamspaghettihead.com much more interactive.

I've added a couple of new bits of functionality to increase the ways visitors can give feedback and to encourage conversation about the content that is posted on the site.

The two improvements are:

  • facebook like buttons
  • • comment boxes

I've wanted to add this functionality to iamspaghettihead.com since the site went live and I'm really pleased that I've found the time to sit down and work out how to do it. I've found that whenever I want to improve the site, all it takes is a bit of perseverance to search the forums in order to find the instructions and code necessary to build in the features I want. My thanks must therefore go to all the incredibly helpful people out there, many of who dedicate their free time to posting really useful advice.

So, with any luck, if I have built in the code correctly, each page of content, be it a rambling post like this one, a gallery entry such as a painting or a photo, or a bric-a-brac entry such as a short story or a poem, should have a facebook like button that visitors can click to show their appreciation. I found the code for this predominantly in the facebook developers pages.

Right underneath that is the facility to enter a comment, which I'd really appreciate — well, constructive ones obviously! Here you can type your name (optional) and add what you want to say in the box that appears when you expand the node. Easy. The code for the comment boxes came from a program provided by html comment box.

I've gone back through the archived pages and added these features to the content previously posted on the front pages. So if you would like to browse the archives, please do, and let me know what you think.

I'm always thinking of ways to continually enhance the experience of iamspaghettihead.com so expect some more improvements in the near future — I'll keep you posted.

I'd welcome feedback so please leave a comment, tweet @Spaghetti_H, or e-mail contact@iamspaghettihead.com.

Thanks for visiting and I really hope you enjoy the offerings.
