Finally, Euro 2012 has arrived! I freely admit it, I was starting to feel a little desperate for some competitive football – sad I know since the English season has only recently ended but there you go.
There is nothing quite like an international football tournament to fill the otherwise barren summer months. I usually have to make do with watching some test cricket, or taking in Wimbledon. Mind you, we do have the added bonus of the Olympics, a sporting event that I’m not usually that fussed about, until this year that is. London is the host city in 2012 and I’m starting to sense a buzz about the Games, a subtle excitement that seems to be growing by the day.
But for now it is the Euros, almost an average of a game a day for the next three weeks, fantastic stuff. And this time there hasn’t been any hype with regards England’s chances. The tournament has crept up very quietly. It makes a nice change, this realism, and may actually work in the team’s favour as there will be less pressure.
Anyway, better get this posted now, Spain v Italy is just a few minutes away; can’t wait…oh, before I forget, why not check out at a related photo in the gallery, just to get you in the Euros mood.
